Skills in Depth: Promoting speech, language and literacy across the
curriculum from 5 to 11 years (key stages 1 and 2)
The Skills in Depth - Promoting speech, language and
literacy training course aims to help parents and professionals
support the speech, language and literacy development of children with
Down syndrome.
Audience
This is a one-day training course for teachers, teaching and support
assistants, Special Educational Needs Coordinators, advisory teachers
and parents.
We also run an Issues in Depth training course on
Speech and Language Development for
qualified Speech and Language Therapists.
Aims
The course aims to provide the practical knowledge and skills
necessary to enable participants to successfully plan, develop and
deliver teaching programmes to teach reading and writing, and to
incorporate goals into the curriculum for all aspects of speech and
language development.
Much of the course content will be equally relevant for working
with other children with learning disabilities and/or speech and
