Sharing unique research expertise and extensive practical experience

Down Syndrome Education International is in a unique position to provide training for professionals and families. It is a world leader in research into the specific profile of developmental needs for children and young people with Down syndrome and also has extensive experience of delivering direct services and support.

Led by Professor Sue Buckley and Gillian Bird, the charity's team of researchers, psychologists and speech and language therapists includes internationally renowned experts in the education and cognitive development of individuals with Down syndrome.

Our Training Days for parents and professionals provide relevant and practical information based on the latest scientific understanding of the developmental delays experienced by children with Down syndrome, backed by our extensive hands-on expertise.

Our range of Training Days provide:

  • Key Topics Training - introducing the key issues affecting children of different ages. 
  • In Depth Training - helping professionals develop detailed knowledge, expertise and practical skills in specific areas.
  • Family Days - a range of training days specially designed to meet the needs of families.

Each Training Day includes a carefully selected range of sessions across a cohesive set of topics - and each session has clearly defined objectives and content. Down Syndrome Education International accredits all of its Training Days.

We are also an approved provider of training on using the Early Support Developmental Journal for Babies and Young Children with Down Syndrome.
