About See and Learn

We are currently working on See and Learn - a programme of activities designed for children who need some extra support in learning to talk.

See and Learn provides a step-by-step structure to promote the two key areas of language development:

  • vocabulary development - the number of words a child knows
  • grammar development - a child's knowledge and skills in combining these words into sentences.

The See and Learn programme aims to build on and complement the language learning that occurs through everyday interactions and play.

The activities will be provided in two formats:

  • initially as printed materials
  • and later as computer software

These two formats are being designed so that they can be used by themselves or in combination.

The See and Learn programme

The See and Learn programme is grouped into four main steps to take these children from learning their first words to producing 2-3 word sentences and beyond.

Current progress

We are currently working on the first packs of printed materials to help child learn their first words. We plan to publish these first packs in 2007.
