Research

This study will examine how 4 primary schools are engaging with signing when supporting a child with Down syndrome who does not communicate effectively using spoken language. The use of signing will be analysed through observations in the classroom and interviews with school staff, parents and pupils. Video footage will be used to explore staff perceptions of signing in the classroom.
