Down Syndrome in Practice
Through this project, the Trust delivers practical and informative films
for parents and professionals caring for individuals with Down syndrome.
Since the Trust's first research project in the early 1980s, we have
produced a series of well-received videos to share the practical
findings of our research in the UK and around the world.
The Down Syndrome in Practice range of films offer expert
information and demonstrate practical activities to promote the development and
education of children with Down syndrome.
The titles in the series cover two broad areas:
- Inclusion in Practice - these films present the keys to
successfully including children with Down syndrome in mainstream schools
- Development in Practice - these films provide practical,
evidence-based strategies to promote the development if children with Down
syndrome from birth to teenage years
The Down Syndrome in Practice films are based on the latest
research evidence and the Trust's extensive hands-on experience working with
children with Down syndrome for nearly three decades. They are designed to be
helpful for families and for education and health professionals supporting
children with Down syndrome.
These video films complement the Trust's printed and online publications by
summarising key research findings and illustrating practical strategies based on
this research.
Although this project does not directly support the Trust's research
activities, it supports the Trust's aim to share the practical
findings of current research with the widest possible audience of
parents and professionals through a range of media.
- Dissemination of practical activities and strategies to benefit
the development and education of individuals with Down syndrome.
