Down Syndrome Resources and Activities
This project provides a range of practical, evidence-based resources,
activities and checklists designed for use children with Down syndrome.
Research into the education and development of individuals with Down
syndrome has identified techniques and strategies that can benefit the
education and development of these individuals.
This research has also
provided some evidence about the progress individuals with Down syndrome
make across a range of developmental milestones.
This project provides parents and professionals with
practical resources based on research
evidence, that they can use to promote the development of children with
Down syndrome. It also provides
checklists and
developmental journals that they can use to help record and
celebrate their child's progress across different areas of development
as well as identify the developmental areas where the baby or toddler
will benefit from extra help.
This project provides a range of printed materials, focusing on teaching
language to individuals with Down syndrome and recording the development
of speech, language and communication skills. These will be complemented
by online versions of the same materials.
This project supports research activities by providing a range of
standard materials that can be used in research studies.
The checklists and developmental journal provide standard
record-keeping mechanisms enabling the charity to gather data for a range
of research purposes.
- Measurable advances in the development of individuals with Down
syndrome using the resources.
- Use of checklists and journals enables parents and professionals to
record progress and identify areas of their child's development where
help is needed.
