Trust contributes to new publication for school leavers

Down Syndrome Educational Trust has contributed to What Kind of a
Future? - a new resource for school leavers published by the
Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities.
Helping school leavers lead full lives
The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities has published a
book titled What Kind of a Future? This new resource provides
advice and guidance to help parents and professionals support young
people with Down syndrome to lead full lives after they leave school.
Gillian Bird, the Trust’s Director of Education and Information
Services, was a member of the advisory committee for this publication.
The booklet provides information about person-centred planning, direct
payments, learning new skills and going to college, getting a job, other
activities, friends, relationships, travel and money.
It has easy-read summaries and includes information about the lives of
10 young adults with Down syndrome.
