Down Syndrome Education Internationalhas now made 80 more
reader-friendly articles on
Down syndrome freely available for online as part of its new Free Access
publishing initiative.
Reader-friendly articles written by practitioners, parents and
researchers
Through its new Free Access initiative the charity
aims to share its accurate, reliable, up-to-date and evidence-based information
as widely as possible, to benefit the maximum number of beneficiaries worldwide.
Thanks to a grant from the Rufford Maurice
Laing Foundation, the charity has been able to convert over 80 articles from Volumes 3-6 of its former periodical Down
Syndrome News and Update., adding to the content from Volumes 1 and
2 that was already online.
The articles are written by leading experts, practitioners, parents and
researchers from all over the world. They provide information about the
wide range of issues relating to the development and education of
individuals with Down syndrome. The articles include information about:
hearing disorders •
transferring to secondary school
• providing early intervention
services
• vision disorders
• specificity in Down syndrome •
creative approaches to teaching and to differentiation
• sleep issues
• modifying behaviour
All of these articles are now available for free, under an Open Access licence, at
Down Syndrome Online.
Providing free access to reliable information
Thanks to support from the Rufford Maurice Laing Foundation, the charity
has successfully converted all of the articles from its leading
scientific journal

News and Update.
Further boost for Free Access initiative
The charity has recently secured funding to enable the conversion of all of
the books in the comprehensive Down Syndrome Issues and Information
series so that they can be made available for free online -
