Tax office employees donate £3,000

Kind-hearted staff at the local HM Revenue & Customs offices in Portsmouth have presented the Trust with £3,000 raised through their charity of the year activities.

Local heroes

hmrc cheque presentation photoStaff from the HM Revenue & Customs offices at Wingfield House and Lynx House in Portsmouth have been working tirelessly during 2007 to raise money for The Down Syndrome Educational Trust - their charity of the year.

Gillian Young and her colleagues at HMRC have all tackled their fundraising with great enthusiasm. They have raised £3,000 to date, through activities including a ‘Posh in the Office’ dressing up day, a charity football competition, book and cake sales, raffles and quizzes.

Staff have also taken part in a sponsored walk along Southsea promenade and have contributed favourite recipes for a cookbook sold at the tax offices.

A team of volunteers also picked up their brushes, rollers and paint pots to tackle some long-overdue redecorating of our library/family room at The Sarah Duffen Centre during the Easter 2007 break.

Representatives from HMRC visited The Sarah Duffen Centre in December to present their cheque - the photo shows Gillian Young from HMRC and Howard Hurd from the Trust, along with some of the children who attend the Trust's early development groups.

We would like to thank everyone at the local HMRC offices for their wonderful support, and a special mention to Gillian Young from HMRC and Pat Smith from Business in the Community for helping bring us together.
