Trust announces new Science, Research and Intervention Advisory Board
Many of the world's
leading scientists, researchers and practitioners have joined The Down Syndrome Educational
Trust's new Science,
Research and Intervention Advisory Board. They will help lead the Trust's expanding research
activities.
The Down Syndrome Educational Trust has recently adopted a
new strategic vision. The charity is committed to rapidly accelerating research progress and expanding the
dissemination of evidence-based information and advice to improve outcomes
for people with Down syndrome everywhere.
To support this new strategy, the Trust has formed a new Science, Research and Intervention
Advisory Board.
Professor Sue Buckley OBE, the charity's Director of Science and Research, commented, "I am
delighted by the widespread support for our efforts to accelerate progress for people with
Down syndrome. This Advisory Board will play an important role in advancing the research
agenda in practical and productive directions."
Many eminent
scientists, researchers and practitioners from around to world and across
all disciplines have joined the Advisory Board to help drive forward the charity's new research
agenda.
The disciplines
represented on the board include psychology, cognition, behaviour,
education, genes and molecular biology, along with clinicians and
practitioners. Many of the members
of the advisory Advisory Board are also parents of a child with Down syndrome.
The Advisory Board will play a critical role in advising The Down Syndrome
Educational Trust's Board of Trustees on science and research policy and on
practice and dissemination. This will include reviewing project proposals
and policy statements, and advising on strategy.
