Stacey Hunt
BA (Hons) Sociology and Media Studies
Roles
- Funding and Development Officer
Responsibilities
Stacey’s primary role as a Funding and Development
Officer is to obtain funding from a
range of sources to enable the charity's work to
continue. She is responsible for writing bids and
applications to trusts, foundations and companies, and building
ongoing relationships with these funders when the
bids are successful. Stacey also supports the
charity's amazing volunteer fundraisers in their
activities, giving advice on fundraising ideas and
techniques, researching and organising places for a
range of fundraising events and challenges, and
generally helping where she can to make the event a
success.
Stacey is also heavily involved in the
charity's
Up for Reading campaign, organising
fundraising packs and supporting the schools,
nurseries and other organisations involved. Stacey also deals
with a wide range of marketing and publicity activities, as
well as aspects of legacy fundraising.
Background
Stacey studied Sociology and Media Studies at the
University of Portsmouth between 2002-5, carrying
out several theory based projects on charities and
charitable giving in the modern world. She then
spent two years in Business administration at a local
company in Portsmouth. However, Stacey soon realised
that she wanted to put her knowledge, enthusiasm and
interest in the area of charitable giving to good
use, and started her role as Funding and Development
officer at the charity in March 2008.
