People
As well as its staff team, Down Syndrome Education International relies on the expertise,
dedication and support of many people, including patrons, and research
advisors and partners.
Staff
Down Syndrome Education International and Down Syndrome
Education Enterprises currently employ 19 people, including 7 people who
have Down syndrome.
Our staff
include a Speech Pathologist and Audiologist, a Speech and Language
Therapist, and five psychologists. Four of our team
have completed PhDs.
The
charity’s team also includes staff with software and web site
development, online and print design and layout, and copyediting
expertise.
The charity’s Chief Scientist (Professor
Sue Buckley, OBE) is a widely
recognised leader in Down syndrome research and holds the honorary
position of Emeritus Professor of Developmental Disability at the
Department of Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, UK.

Many leading researchers and practitioners from around the world make a major contribution
to the charity's work.
Their contributions include advising on science and research policy and on practice
and dissemination, reviewing project proposals and reviewing papers submitted to
the charity's journal, editing and authoring content for the charity's information
resources, and working in partnership on research projects.
