Global outreach

By working with local partner
organisations we aim to develop new
capacity for effective service delivery
around the world to support young people
with Down syndrome and their families

Through our global outreach programme we aim
to develop new capacity for effective service delivery around the world.
We do this by working with local partner organisations in low and middle
income countries to develop local professional
expertise and knowledge to support young people with Down syndrome and
their families.
We offer a range of outreach services suited to
organisations of different sizes working in
countries at all levels of economic development. We
are already working with partner organisations in
Eastern Europe and India.
Our outreach services will include capacity
development, training, advisory, due diligence and
auditing services within partnership projects with
organisations in low and middle income
countries.
Global education initiative
We have established a
Global Education Fund
to support training and outreach services in low and middle income
countries.
Using this fund we will develop support and partnership programmes
for organisations emerging in low and middle income
countries. These will start with online support
through discussion forums, online seminars and
partnership development. They will then lead on to
joint project development and eventual funding for
outreach service delivery on the ground.
Working in partnership
All outreach services will be delivered in
partnership with local organisations who will lead
the projects and put local families at the heart of
decision-making. All of our projects will aim to
deliver sustainable change by building local
capacity and expertise through training and advice
to develop model support services and intervention
programmes. In addition to professional capacity, we
will develop organisational governance, management,
funding, and communications capacity.
We will carefully evaluate and document the impact
of outreach services, recording progress against
defined benchmarks, and closely monitoring the
success of each project. Feedback from evaluations
will guide further development of the outreach
services.
Sharing best practice
We will document the successes and challenges
encountered. We will publish reports and papers to
inform others of our experiences and to report the
findings of our evaluations. This will ensure that
outreach projects have an impact beyond the children
and families they immediately serve by informing
other NGOs, companies and governments about
successful models for improving conditions for young
people with Down syndrome elsewhere.
Social responsibility programme
We have recently secured a Corporate Social
Responsibility partner project to deliver outreach
services in Ukraine. Where possible we plan to use this model of
working to engage multinational companies and their
local employees in providing expertise, volunteering
and finance for our global outreach projects.
