Using Training Center to join web seminars

Cisco WebEx Training Center is an easy-to-use web-based communication and collaboration application that is ideally suited to online seminars and training sessions.

The Training Center application is installed automatically when you first join an online session. This process can take a few minutes when you first connect, so you should allow a little time before the scheduled start of the seminar. Once installed, the application will not need to be downloaded again unless an upgrade is available.

To join a web seminar

To join a web seminar, click on the link provided in your invitation email and follow the instructions. You can join up to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled session start time.

Pre-session installation and media player verification

If you prefer to install the application in advance of your scheduled web seminar, please visit the DownsEd WebEx Meetings web site and click on "Training Center" in the menu strip towards the top of the page. You should see a page that looks similar to the image below.

  1. Select the Training Manager Setup Menu option: Look for the "Set Up" heading in the left menu. If the options below it are not showing, click on the black arrow to show them. Then click on "Training Manager" to start the setup process:

    An introduction will be displayed as shown below.
  2. Verify rich media players (optional): Before proceeding with setting up Training Manager, you may wish to confirm that you have a compatible media player installed to support any video included in presentations during the session you are attending. To do this, follow the "verify your rich media players" link:
  3. Verify rich Flash Player (optional): Video presented in DownsEd web seminars and events will usually require Adobe Flash Player. To confirm that you have the appropriate pulg-in installed click on "Check Now" alongside "Flash Player 6.0 or later" and follow the instructions.   4. Install Training Manager: When you return to the Training Manager setup page (see above, step 2), click on the "Set Up" button. The message "One Moment Please..." will be displayed while the application installs. Accept any requests for confirmation during the install process:
  5. Complete Training Manager setup: When complete, a confirmation message will be displayed. Click on "OK" to complete.
