Down Syndrome Issues and Information - translations

DownsEd has been working with other Down syndrome organisations around the world to translate books in the Education series. A selection of books are now available in Spanish and Norwegian.

Designed for an international audience

Down Syndrome Issues and Information materials have been developed to be as helpful as possible for an international audience and translated to local situations for use worldwide. Work on translations and adaptations started in 2001, in partnership with Down syndrome organisations around the world.

Living with Down Syndrome - translations

The introductory book Living with Down syndrome is available in Arabic and Vietnamese translations. These translations can be viewed at Down Syndrome Online.

These translations have been produced by Down Syndrome NSW in Australia. 

Education series - Spanish translations

The following Spanish translations of selected Down Syndrome Issues and Information - Education series books are currently available:

• Speech, language and communication: a set of 4 books (including Spanish versions of the Down Syndrome Checklists) entitled Habla, Lenguaje y Comunicacion en Ninos con Sindrome de Down, ISBN 84-7869-473-0
• Living with Down syndrome packaged with overview books on reading and writing, numeracy, memory and social development: Vivir con el Sindrome de Down. Una Introduccion para padres y profesores, ISBN 84-7869-5036
• Education, reading and writing books: Educacion, acceso al curriculum, lectura y escritura para alumnos con sindrome de Down, ISBN 84-7869-508-7

Further Spanish translations of books in the Down Syndrome Issues and Information series are planned. The Spanish translations have been produced by ASNIMO - the Asociacion Sindrome de Down de Baleares.

How to order

These books are currently only available from the Spanish publisher - to order visit the CEPE website and follow the 'Programas Educativos y Metodos para Alumnos con Sindrome de Down y Alumnos con N.E.E.' link on the left.

Online versions

We plan to make these Spanish translations available to view online at the Down Syndrome Online website.

Education series - Norwegian translations

The following books in the Down Syndrome Issues and Information - Education series are now available in Norwegian. Further titles under currently under development.
