Working with grant-makers
A clear strategy
The charity's strategy sets out our vision for how we
will help people with Down syndrome achieve more, wherever
they live.
We work in partnership with grant-making trusts and foundations in the UK and around the world to
address areas of common concern relating to the development and education of individuals with Down syndrome.
We are uniquely positioned to make a substantial impact for young people with Down syndrome everywhere
through innovative and practical research, and through world-leading and extensive information dissemination
and communication activities.
Track record
The charity has a track record of over two decades' experience working with a range of respected grant-makers
to deliver real benefits to young people with Down syndrome.
Project funders in recent years have included: The Big Lottery
Fund
,
BBC Children in Need
,
The Freemasons' Grand Charity
,
The Esmée
Fairbairn Foundation
and The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales
.
"The charity is now central to the worldwide understanding and sharing
of research from many academics and longer-term experience of those working with
generations of children with Down syndrome."
(from the Making Sense of SEN report by
New Philanthropy Capital
).
International activities
The charity's activities make an impact around the world. We are keen
to work with international foundations and institutions who would like to join with us to help people
with Down syndrome everywhere achieve more in all areas of their development.
National impact
Our information, advice and training activities
benefit children with Down syndrome and their
families across the UK.
Vital local services
Alongside our international and national activities, the charity continues to provide vital services for children
and young people
with Down syndrome and their families in Portsmouth and surrounding areas in southern England. We always
welcome support from local funders to support these popular services.
