Joining our Early Intervention service

Photograph - Down Syndrome Education International

The section provides information for families living with 70 miles of The Sarah Duffen Centre who are interested in joining our early intervention service for babies and preschool children with Down syndrome.

Please note

Due to funding and operational restrictions, this service is restricted to parents living within a 70 mile radius of The Sarah Duffen Centre in Portsmouth, UK.

If you live outside that distance, we can still support you through our Advice Open Days, See and Learn learning programme, and online resources and information.

Fees and booking information

Group timetable

The early intervention service run regularly on certain days during term time. Children and their parents attend one session per month (10 sessions per year).

Each session lasts for a total of 2 hours and this includes time for topical discussions, answering questions, addressing concerns and demonstrating practical activities to promote development.

Fees

Down Syndrome Education International subsidises the provision of these groups from charitable funds and through seeking grant-funding. In order to cover overheads, we request a small parental contribution per session (shown below, payable termly in advance). Please contact us to confirm current charges.

Requesting a place

If you live within 70 miles of The Sarah Duffen Centre and wish to request a place for your child, please e-mail us or contact us. Please note: due to high levels of demand and limited capacity, there is usually a waiting list to join this service.
